Flight Instructor training time: FAA minimums

Harmony Air provides Part 61 flight training. Pilots training to become a flight instructor (CFI, CFII, and MEI) under Part 61 do not have a specific number of ground and flight hours to be endorsed for their checkrides, but they must receive and log ground training and show flight proficiency.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • U.S. citizen or TSA approval to take flight lessons
  • Read, speak, and understand the English language
  • Hold a valid Commercial Pilot License and an Instrument Rating
  • Hold a valid third class medical certificate
  • At least 250 hours of flight time
  • Must pass written, oral, and flight tests
